Itinerary and Highlights of Safari Rift Valley and Crater Highland

Day 1 Arrival Day

You will be picked up at the Kilimanjaro International Airport and our driver will bring you to your Hotel in Moshi.

Day 2 Moshi – Manyara National Park

On the first day you will go on a three-hour drive to the East African Rift. Lake Manyara is the only national park at the Rift Valley. Right behind the entrance gate, there is one of the few groundwater lakes in East Africa which opens up to grass fields covered with acacias and open grasslands. There is marshland at the side of the salt lake. The park is known for its tree-climbing lions. You can also find leopards and many different types of monkeys. However, giraffes, impalas, gnus, zebras, hippos, large herds of buffalos and flamingos are predominantly found.

Day 3 Karatu – Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will head to Serengeti National Park. You will reach the Ngorongoro Conservation Area park entrance after one hour and will climb the crater rim. Soft hills, dormant volcanoes and stunning jungles provide a breath-taking view. The ecosystem of Ngorongoro-Serengeti is called the “African Eden” as it has a very impressive and rich variety of vegetation and species. During migration from January to March, millions of gnus and zebras pass the Serengeti Plains and the edges of Ngorongoro. When you enter the Serengeti, you will have a fantastic first impression.

Day 4 Serengeti National Park

The third day begins in the heart of the Serengeti, the Seronera Valley, among umbrella thorn acacias and huge fig trees. The range of hills in the north feed several waterholes which attract numerous impalas, antelopes, reed-bucks and baboons. Hippos splash around in the water, leopards rest on the acacias and lions take naps in the high grass. This day is completely/entirely devoted to game drives in Serengeti. You can decide how you would like to organize the day.

Day 5 Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Crater

If you are up for it, you can go for an early morning game drive on day 4. We start right after a coffee and a small snack. The first rays of sun cast long shadows and it is the best time for good pictures! You often get to see hyenas, active hippos or you might get to see a pride of lions having breakfast. Experience the unique sunrise in the savanna where the air is as crisp as nowhere else. After brunch, you will go on your next game drive and will take some breaks for pictures heading to Ngorongoro Crater. You will stay the Ngorongoro Crater Rim, which is the best option to drive early in the Morning into the Crater.

Day 6 Ngorongoro Crater – Moshi

Today you will enter the Ngorongoro Crater. It is a magical name – Tanzania’s jewel – and was declared a World Heritage site in 1979. You can find almost all wild animals of East Africa there and you will have a good chance of seeing the famous “big five” – lions, rhinos, elephants, buffaloes and leopards. They all have habitats in the natural reserve Ngorongoro, a naturally delimited space. In the afternoon, you will leave and head back to Moshi.

Day 7 Departure Day

Depending on the time of departure, after breakfast our driver guide will drop you off at the airport or you can start another travel package. Also there are several day tours offered from Moshi (Coffee Tour, Biking Tour to Rau Forest, Uro Coffee Tour, Meli Muesum or Lake Challa Tour. Please book in advance).
