Safari Ngorongoro Special
Surrounded by steep walls measures this huge Amphitheater about 20 km in diameter. The crater is an amazing phenomenon. “Nobody can not properly describe the crater,” wrote Dr. Grzimek, “because there is nothing like it”. In this garden of beauty which can be reached only by four-wheel vehicles, live hundreds of thousands of animals: elephants, buffaloes, wildebeests, gazelles, zebras and rhinos. Monkeys and predators such as cheetahs, hyenas and lions can be observed in their natural environment. More than 150 species of birds, which do not exist in the Serengeti, are found here: ostriches, hood cranes and countless flamingos enchant the viewer.

Itinerary and Highlights of Safari Ngorongoro Special
Day 1 Moshi – Ngorongoro Crater
You will be picked up at your hotel in Moshi and will head to Ngorongoro. Along the way, you will see the colorfull dressed Maasai in their round huts known as bomas. After a five-hour drive along the breathtaking scenery of the East African Rift and the hills of the Karatu District, you reach Tanzania’s jewel, the Ngorongoro Crater. The view point next to the memorial stone of Michael Grzimek provides a wide view of the gigantic caldron. Its diameter is up to 20 kilometers at some points. Depending on the season, the Ngorongoro Crater has between 15,000 and 25,000 animals. You have a good chance of spotting the “big five” (lion, hippo, elephant, buffalo and leopard). Considering the space, a comparatively large amount of grazers live in this naturally enclosed animal reserve. It is a good food base for more than 100 lions. Its deepest point is the Lake Magadi salt lake. Depending on the season, its level increases and attracts numerous flamingos. Hippos move around in the surrounding Mandusi and Gorigor swamps, which are fed by the rivers of the crater highlands.
Day 2 Ngorongoro Crater – Moshi
The second day starts with an extensive breakfast early in the morning before you enter the Ngorongoro Crater. As the first game drive in the Crater will take place in the afternoon and the second one in the morning, you will get a comprehensive impression of the wildlife and can benefit from ideal light conditions for your pictures in the morning and evening. In the afternoon, you will head back to Moshi with your driver and cook.
