Udzungwa Mountains
The mountain is popularly known as “Galapagos of Africa “, and is designated as a unique, exciting wilderness paradise in the mountains. Hikers can discover rich vegetation and spectacular views of the “Mwanihana Peak “. The forest, with 30 meters’ tall endemic tree species and more than 2,500 plant species, is a botanical wonderland. And not only that, in the high levels you might see elephants, antelopes or observe a herd of buffalos.

Itinerary and Highlights of Udzungwa Mountains
Day 1 Arrival Day
You will be picked up at the Kilimanjaro International Airport and our driver will bring you to your Hotel in Dar es Salaam.
Day 2 Dar es Salaam – Udzungwa Mountains
You will be picked up in the morning at your hotel in Dar es Salaam and drive towards the west of the country. After halfway through the drive you will pass Mikumi National Park on a public road. You will see giraffes, antelopes and the yellow baboons, as they are common in the south. Also enjoy the views of the Uluguru mountains. In the later afternoon you will arrive at Udzungwa Mountain and take a walk on “Prince Bernard Trail “.
Day 3 Mwanihana Trail – Njia Panda
In the morning you will meet your porters, the cook and the ranger at the starting point of the tour. When all the luggage is stored away, today’s stage of the total of 38 km long Mwanihana Trail starts. It will take about three hours to reach Njia Panda Camp. The trail leads through lushly vegetated land along a small river. You will be surrounded by the sound of the endemic red colobus monkeys.
Day 4 Mwanihana Trail – Mizimu Camp
After a delicious breakfast in the bush, you will take the next stage to Mwanihana Peak (2,150 m) with your ranger. Over the first hundred meters the path will go up and down before permanently continuing up hill. The vegetation gets denser and in some areas you will have to overcome tree trunks and climb the path which gets steeper and steeper before you reach the peak and enjoy stunning views of the unspoiled Udzungwa Mountains National Park.
Day 5 Mwanihana Trail – Sanje Waterfall
Today the trail leads back to the starting point, the Mwanihana trails. Here you can take a refreshing bath before you will walk the 6.2 km long Sanje Waterfall Trail in the afternoon. The Sanje Waterfalls are the highest in the Region, which fall over three cascades 310 meter into the valley.
Day 6 Udzungwa Mountains – Dar es Salaam
After a leisurely breakfast you will drive back to Dar es Salaam (long drive). Please note that from here you can book additional programs like safari or Zanzibar stay.
Day 7 Departure Day
Depending on the time of departure, after breakfast our driver will drop you off at the airport or you can start another travel package.
